My name is C.C. Brown, and I have been a member of the Legend Singers Choral Ensemble for 18 years! While pursuing my Bachelor of Music-Performance Degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia, I explored many different genres, including Jazz, Country, Spirituals and Opera, which was the focus of my studies. Following graduation, I performed for two seasons with the St. Louis Symphony Chorus, various church choirs, taught voice lessons, was a frequent backup singer. I am also a current member of the Gospel Symphonic Choir. The Legend Singers Choral Ensemble is the highlight of my musical experiences, allowing me to explore my own musical heritage and share it, joyfully, with others!

Nina “Harmony” Brown has been a member of her beloved Legend Singers since age fifteen while singing in the A Capella Choir under the direction of Dr. Kenneth Brown Billups. She studied music education at SIU-Edwardsville, singing in the University Chorus and performing in a production of Carmen Jones. Nina has also sung with The Cosmopolitan Singers, the InUnison Chorus and the Antioch Chancel Choir. Nina’s love for the Negro Spiritual is undying; she vows to sing and promote them until God calls her home.

I began singing with the Legend Singers Choral Ensemble around 1979, under the direction of Dr. Kenneth Brown Billups. My love of vocal music performance initially began as a young child, singing in church choirs, later the Beaumont High School Concert Choir, Festival Chorus of the St. Louis Public Schools, University of Missouri-Columbia Singers, SBC Belltones, and have been a featured soloist with each of these groups. I am now continuing my pursuit of music performance with the Legend Singers, under the direction of Dr. Doris Jones Wilson, where she endeavors to contribute to the joy of all those who hear and appreciate vocal music.

This is my second year with The Legend Singers. I also sing in the St. Louis Women's HOPE Chorale, and sang in the Bach Society of St. Louis for five years. I teach piano and voice and am happy to have the opportunity to raise awareness of the contributions of African-Americans to American music.

I have been a member of this awesome group for 21 years. I studied Healthcare Administration, Nursing and Instructional Voice at Webster University. I am a wife of 25 years and proud mother to 4 beautiful children. Preserving the spiritual and other music of the African American through preforming and teaching is very important to me and gives me a great sense of pride in my musical heritage.

I have been with the Legend Singers about eight years I have sung with other church choirs and was a soloist at one church for two years. The music we sing is challenging and helps one to sing all kinds of music.

I have been a member of The Legend Singers for approximately 12 years. I am a charter member of the St. Louis Symphony In Unison Chorus and a former member of the Songs of Africa Ensemble. I am the composer of several songs, eleven, of which, are included on my first CD "For My Family." I appreciate being a member of The Legend Singers as the repertoire is rich, diverse, exciting and musically fullfilling!
